Barry Edwards Ford Racing 1st Race of the Season

On Monday 12th March 2008 Barry Edwards undertook the first race of the season at Mallory Park.

After qualifying fourth for the race due to a fuel leak in practice, the race was halted almost as soon as it started due to a massive shunt between several other cars. Barry managed to avoid this, but did get hit twice in the rear and skimmed the barrier. Luckily Barry’s car was able to continue and as the race was restarted, Barry was able to get away quickly. He continued undisturbed for the next 15 laps until another Ford Zetec started closing in on him with only 5 laps to go. On the penultimate lap Barry received a hit to his car on the hairpin from the Zetec and then on the final lap the wheels locked up during the hairpin and the other Zetec pushed Barry around the corner. The race ended with Barry winning the class by 0.2 of a second and Barry was also awarded Driver of the Day!
